Heavy Rainfall Likely in Dhaka and 5 Divisions

The Met Office has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in several divisions, including Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, and Chittagong, over the next 48 hours, starting from 10pm on Friday. This is due to a land depression currently affecting the region.
The special bulletin issued by the Met Office also warned that landslides could occur in hilly areas of the Chittagong division due to the expected heavy rainfall.
On Saturday morning at 9am, the land depression over Jessore and surrounding areas moved northwestwards and intensified into a deep depression over the same region. The system is forecast to continue moving northwestwards, according to the Met Office.
As a result of this depression, deep convection is occurring over the North Bay and the nearby coastal areas of Bangladesh, bringing squally weather conditions.
In light of the situation, maritime ports in Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been instructed to keep Local Cautionary Signal No. 3 hoisted.
Fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay have been advised to seek shelter immediately and remain there until further notice is issued.
