Vice-Chancellor leads campus clean-up at Chittagong University

A day-long "Clean Campus" initiative was carried out at Chittagong University (CU), where the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr Muhammad Yahya Akhtar, along with the two Pro-Vice-Chancellors, Professor Dr Mohammad Shamim Uddin Khan (Academic) and Professor Dr Md Kamal Uddin (Administrative), led the cleanliness drive with students.
The campaign, which began at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, from the university’s Zero Point, saw participation from the Proctorial body, Deans of various faculties, hall provosts, students, officers, and staff from different departments.
The Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administrative), Professor Dr Md Kamal Uddin, stated, "We are responsible for making our campus dirty, and it is up to us to clean it. Even though bins clearly say ‘Use me,’ we still don’t use them properly. We throw garbage next to the bins instead of inside them, despite being educated individuals."
He further added, "The university will provide everything necessary to keep the campus clean, and this cleaning initiative will continue regularly. We are also improving the university’s disposal system and will soon make the campus plastic-free."
Mohammad Ali Obaidullah, a CU student, said, "We, the general students, teachers, officers, and staff, have collectively taken the initiative to clean our university. Our campaign will continue until the entire campus is cleaned. Just as mental cleanliness is important, so is physical cleanliness. We firmly believe in this, and we will build a new, clean Bangladesh and campus."
