‘The Outlaws’ Makes History at Busan Film Festival

Netflix’s Korean film ‘The Outlaws’ will open the Busan International Film Festival, marking the first time a streaming platform’s film has been chosen as the opening feature in the festival’s history.
The 29th edition of Asia’s largest film festival will begin on October 2nd and run until October 11th.
‘The Outlaws’ is the first collaboration between Netflix and Oscar-winning South Korean director, producer, and screenwriter Park Chan-wook, who serves as the film’s producer and co-screenwriter.
Directed by Kim Sang-man, the film is set against the backdrop of the Joseon Dynasty. The lead roles are played by Park Joon-min and Kang Dong-won.
The film’s world premiere will take place at Busan. During the 10-day festival, 279 films from 63 countries will be showcased. The festival will close with the screening of ‘Spirit World’ by Singaporean director Eric Khoo on October 11th.
