Interim Govt Cannot Be Allowed to Fail: Tarique Rahman

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman stated on Tuesday that the current interim government must not be allowed to fail, emphasising that Bangladesh will progress towards elections through reform.
“While not all actions of this government may be deemed successful by everyone, we must recognise that its failure would be a failure for all of us and for the pro-democracy supporters of Bangladesh. Therefore, the interim government cannot be allowed to fail,” he said.
However, Rahman cautioned that the current government must also be vigilant to avoid failure due to its own shortcomings.
Tarique Rahman made these comments during a virtual address at a mass rally held in front of BNP’s Nayapaltan central office.
The BNP organised the rally to commemorate International Democracy Day, with Party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir presiding over the event.
Rahman asserted that the interim government is working to restore order following the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s despotic regime.
He noted that although Hasina, the leader of the mafia clique, has fled the country, her supporters and malicious forces continue to challenge the interim government, either within the administration or under the guise of politics.
“The people will not allow the government to fail despite various provocations both domestically and internationally,” Rahman declared.
He highlighted that the interim government represents the supreme sacrifice of thousands of martyrs and the mass uprising of millions of people.
The BNP Acting Chairman urged party members to gain the trust and support of the public through their actions.
“I would like to affirm that the country will move forward on the electoral roadmap through reform. Let us earn the trust and affection of the people through our work. We must stand by them and ensure their support,” he added.
