Pedestrian in 60s Dies After Collision with Police Vehicle in Nuneaton

A pedestrian in his 60s has died after being struck by a police vehicle in Nuneaton, according to Warwickshire police. The incident occurred around 8.45pm on Friday as officers were responding to an emergency.

The man suffered a severe head injury and despite the efforts of paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The collision happened on the B4113 Coventry Road, near the junction with Gipsy Lane and the Griff roundabout.

Neither of the officers in the vehicle was injured. The incident has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), which has launched an investigation, a standard procedure in cases involving police activity resulting in death.

Warwickshire police have notified the man’s next of kin and expressed condolences to his family. They are appealing for witnesses and any dashcam footage.

The IOPC spokesperson stated, “We have begun our investigation into the fatal collision involving Warwickshire police and are gathering information from the scene and initial accounts from the officers involved. Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased and everyone affected by this incident.”
