Shahjalal runway to close 3.5 hours daily for maintenance

The runway at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport will remain closed for three and a half hours during midnight over 14 days due to maintenance work, suspending all flight operations during that period.
In a notification issued on Sunday, the airport authorities announced that the runway will be closed from 1:00 AM to 4:30 AM each night, from 1 October to 14 October, to carry out maintenance related to the Instrument Landing System (ILS) Category-2. During this maintenance period, all flight landings and take-offs at the airport will be temporarily suspended.
As part of the routine maintenance of the airport’s flight operations, the work will include the installation of runway centreline lights, touchdown zone lights, and stopway lighting systems for runways 14 and 32. Due to these activities, the runway operations and flight services will be temporarily halted, and a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) has already been issued to all relevant airlines and agencies.
Given the suspension of flight operations, the flight schedules may be subject to changes. The airport authorities have coordinated with all airlines and stakeholders to take necessary steps to mitigate any disruptions.
Passengers are advised to contact their respective airlines in advance to confirm their flight schedules, and in case of any further inquiries, they can reach the airport’s call centre at 13600.
The notification also reiterated Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport's commitment to ensuring smooth and comfortable travel for all passengers during this period.
