Bangladesh Mission Urges Expatriates in Lebanon to Stay Safe

The Bangladesh Embassy in Lebanon has issued a strong advisory, urging Bangladeshi expatriates to prioritise their safety amid the escalating conflict in the country.

In a video message today, Bangladesh's Ambassador to Lebanon, Air Vice Marshal Javed Tanveer Khan, called on expatriates to stay vigilant and report any difficulties to the embassy for immediate assistance.

“In the current situation, please prioritise your safety. If you encounter any problems, inform us right away; we are committed to supporting you,” Khan urged.

The embassy has provided helpline numbers for those seeking shelter, advising them to contact 71217139 (front desk), 70635278 (hotline), or 81744207 (helpline). Expatriates can also reach out via email at beirut.mission@mofa.gov.bd for further assistance.

Khan highlighted the deteriorating security conditions in Lebanon over the past few days, with parts of Beirut experiencing gunfire, roadblocks, and vandalism. He reiterated previous advice, encouraging expatriates in high-risk areas, such as Dahieh, to relocate to safer zones.

"We are grateful to those who followed our guidance and to the organisations providing food and shelter to those in need,” Ambassador Khan said, acknowledging the support from the community.

The embassy is closely monitoring the situation, tracking expatriates who have moved to safer locations and ensuring assistance is available. Khan assured that ongoing efforts are in place to help expatriates in distress reach more secure areas.

The embassy remains in regular contact with authorities in Dhaka, keeping them updated on the severity of the situation and the needs of Bangladeshi nationals in Lebanon.

As tensions continue to rise in southern Lebanon, the embassy consistently advises expatriates to seek refuge in safer locations. Ambassador Khan also urged the community to remain united, avoid misinformation, and support one another during this challenging time.
