Iran launches 200 missiles at Israel: Israel vows retaliation

Iran has launched 200 missiles, including hypersonic weapons, at Israel for the first time. In response, Israel has vowed to retaliate against this attack.
Tehran’s state television reported the news on Wednesday, citing AFP. Iranian media aired online footage of the missile launch. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that the attack targeted "three military bases" near Tel Aviv and other outposts.
The Revolutionary Guards reported that "90% of the missiles hit their targets" in the attack, which took place late Tuesday night.
Meanwhile, Israel's military stated that Iran fired around 180 missiles into its territory, most of which were intercepted.
In June 2023, Iran unveiled a medium-range ballistic missile capable of striking targets at hypersonic speeds, up to 15 times the speed of sound. At the time, President Ebrahim Raisi said the weapon would boost Iran's "defensive capabilities" and promote peace and stability in the region.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the missile strike, calling it a "grave mistake" by Iran.
The attack came after Israel's assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah last week.
Iran’s Chief of Staff warned that any attacks on Iran would result in Tehran striking Israel’s infrastructure.
